  1. Sangam Manchester City Centre (1,983). And before talking to a 'g casino' employee. A none member of the 'g casino' staff/ customer thretatened me, demanding I do not talk to her girlfriend behind the bar. I believed this to be a joke and asked if the lady was serious.

Following its £1.7 million refurbishment in 2013, Grosvenor G Casino Manchester revamped its venue and now boasts the largest poker room in the North West. It is a modern casino located in the Strangeways area just north of Manchester city centre.

Manchester airport is 15 miles away and whilst the main train station, Piccadilly, is two miles from the casino, Victoria station is closer – about a mile away. Drivers will find the venue just off the A56 where they will be provided with free parking. There is a vast array of hotels in Manchester, but closest to the casino are Stay Inn and the Park Inn.

This Manchester casino has many of your favourite games including American and electronic roulette, blackjack, three card poker as well as dice and slots – some with £10,000 jackpots. If you want to play for higher stakes on American roulette and blackjack, they have a ‘gold room’ which can also be hired for private games. Their 240 seat card room holds a variety of daily tournaments starting at 8.00pm and also at 3.00pm on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. On Mondays they feature a free to enter poker competition. A good number of poker cash games are also played every day; see casino website or phone them for up-to-date timings and details. Use of your Grosvenor Players loyalty card will earn you points throughout the venue.

The games lounge includes high definition TVs showing Sky HD, where you can enjoy all the latest sporting action. There's also a multi-screen video wall to play a range of interactive games. A wide choice of dining is available from their restaurant or late bar menu and on Fridays and Saturdays they showcase live entertainment.

If you are thinking of visiting the Grosvenor in Cheetham Hill in Manchester, you would be forgiven for thinking it is part of the prison opposite, by this I mean the huge fence, security cameras, and the manned entrance that uses those bars which pop up from the ground to stop you driving over them along with the barrier which the security guard needs to raise up to let you in (presumably once he is happy you are not an armed raider or something)
The car park is large however, and also free, and once you scuttle across it to get into the casino, keeping a tight hold on your valuables just in case, you will then make your way into the reception area, this is bright and well presented and if you are a new member, which I was, you will need to have ID and have your photo taken, and there are signs telling you how you should dress, however once inside I saw people wearing all manner of clothing, so I presume they are flexible should you not wander in with a tuxedo on!
I didn't see any of the £500 jackpot machines, however I never looked as I don't see the point of those when there are plenty of £4000 jackpot machines on offer, these machines are all grouped together and walking straight past them brings you to the bar and cabaret area.
When I visit there was a 'Singer' performing Take That songs, now I can't admit to being a big fan of theirs, but one thing that did annoy me as I played the slots was that the volume was too high, not wanting to sound like a stick in the mud or anything, but when I am playing the machines I like to hear them and not someone, who may or may not have a passing resemblance to an out of condition Gary Barlow warbling in the background so loud it grated!
In regards to your fellow players they are more the regular punters who visit the casino daily due to this being a City Centre venue, so don't be surprised to see several slot with credits or money in the machines bank as the player has either wandered off to the toilet or outside for a fag. If you smoke by the way the outside smoking area is not too bad with chairs, tables and those little heater things for cold days.
They do of course have plenty of live casino tables, admittedly depending when you go (this is a 24 hours a day casino) not all of them will be open, however one thing that did strike me in this casino is the sheer number of roulette machines offered, there are loads of them all located in between the slot lounge and the live table games.
The roulette machines are in banks depending on the minimum stake levels, so I opted to sit in steerage where the chips were cheap, however this being a Grosvenor Casino the drinks are not cheap! But the bar staff do wander round asking if you fancy a one.
One thing I did notice is that whilst the casino has some form of dress code, they could perhaps let the younger members of staff, namely the dealers and croupiers know this, whilst they obviously all wore the same uniform, the young lads did seem to look somewhat dishevelled with shirts hanging out etc, first impressions and all that springs to mind.
Whenever I have visited this casino, which has been a few times now, I have never any kind of open warfare or mass murders, which, when you first look at the high security of the venue you may think is a daily occurrence, so if you are in Manchester and have tired of shopping then the walk to the casino from the Arndale won't kill you! The locals might but the walk won't!
